The Dance - Collaboration with me and Emily de Molly

Annnd lot 27 - this was my favourite offering last year and I think we've equalled it this year. There is a lot of meaning behind it so grab a cuppa 

This is The Dance a collaboration with myself and Hayley from Emily de Molly.

This year my daughter should be in her last year of high school here in Tasmania and at the end of the school year is a huge event for the teens called their Leaver's Dinner, similar to what I imagine a prom would be. So it's kind of one of those years for me, where it's noticeable that a big event should be happening in her life but she'll never get to do it - we'll never get to do it. I should be arguing over dresses and their appropriateness, sharing the excitement of who she will go with and finding that dream vehicle for her to arrive in. I knew I wanted this years collaboration polish to reflect all of that and in some small way give me a chance to be involved and to share with others, just like what would be happening if we had her here. In a way Hayley and I did have some angst with the perfect 'dress', what I thought I wanted just didn't work and maybe as with all Mums was a bit too young. After driving Hayley crazy (thanks Hayley) out of the blue she came up with this polish and we both knew she 'had' it. The Dance has a a darkened magenta base filled with colour shifting shimmer that changes from pink to gold, what teen girl wouldn't want that on her fingers? There are 10 numbered bottles of this available and then that's it, it will never be made again.

Now the name has two meanings, The Dance as obviously Grace would be off to her first formal dance and The Dance by Garth Brooks is a song I can really relate to and listened to so often in the early years. It's so true I could have missed the pain of losing our precious daughter but to do so would mean I never would have had the joy of having her in our lives.

Duo Till we Meet Again and Duo Tears in Heaven by MLO Polish

Auction lot number 12 contains four polishes in two duos from the lovely Renee from MLO polish.

The below text is written by Renee

The first is a blue chalk finish and that has been paired with a clear base containing pink multi sized hex, lavender multi sized hex circles and diamonds and white multi sized hex, square and slices. This Duo is called 'Till we Meet Again. This duo is in memory of my Niece who passed away at only 8 hours old. She would of been 14 this year. Till we meet again is a saying that holds special meaning for us as a family as we believe we will be reunited after death with our family that has passed.

The second duo is a pale pink chalk finish that has been paired with a clear base containing square baby blue multi sized hex and squares, pale teal micro stars, dark teal diamonds and micro iridescent hex and squares. This duo is called 'Tears in Heaven'. This duo is in memory of my own child, whom hubby and I lost during our first pregnancy. Tears in Heaven is a song that our family hold dear and it is played at all family wakes in memory of our loved ones.

Our 3rd beauty from Celestial Cosmetics

Our third polish is a collaboration with my friend Nicki from Celestial Cosmetics and me. It has a whole lot of meaning behind it, so bear with me. Since my son was just little when our daughter died he always used to say the first star of the night was Grace watching us. Love you to the moon and back is something that I always say to Zac and write to Grace. I know many other bereaved parents associate their babies with stars so this polish had to be made for Wave of polish. The name 2nd start to the right is from Peter Pan, a story I loved as a child, a story I loved sharing with Zac and one I'm sad I never got to share with Grace.

Now my ramblings are out of the way this is a gorgeous deep blue jelly packed with glitters in stars and dots to represent the moon and stars. It's a stunner and we are lucky enough that Nicki has made 7 bottles of this, so 7 lucky people will be able to have this polish. Only 7 though as it's a one off creation :)

Our First sneak peek of the year Little Stars by Grace-full

This polish is Little Stars and I made it. I have been making polishes on the side for a little while and knew I wanted to have one ready for Wave of Polish. I decided my brand name would be Grace-full, for so many reasons . Little stars is a glitter topper packed full of pastel stars, dots, hexes and squares.

For those new to wave of polish here is our description

October is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Throughout the month we ask that you paint your nails blue and pink on a Tuesday to show your support and raise awareness of pregnancy and Infant loss. If you would like to do more days in the month that would be great too :)

October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day, so if there is only one Tuesday you can commit to painting your nails this month please chose this date. Around the world on the 15th October at 7pm people are asked to light a candle. Then throughout the time zones a wave of light is made in memory of the precious lives taken too soon. Let's also make October 15th a wave of polished hands showing support throughout the world.

In conjunction with the wave of polish campaign I will be holding an auction of one off polishes made by our amazing Australian Indies and also some gorgeous pastels from amazing Australian polish brands. The auctions will run for a week finishing from 7pm on the 15th October. Sneak peeks of auction polishes will be appearing here and on the Facebook page as they become available. All proceeds will again be going to SANDS Australia and you can read about them on the tab above.
